SK Windhoek

The Sport Klub Windhoek ( also SK Windhoek ), mostly just SKW, is a sports club in the Namibian capital Windhoek. It is an association of Deutschnamibier and with around 900 members of one of the biggest sports clubs in Namibia.

History

The SKW was formally established on 2 March 1951. He emerged from the 1899 founded by Gustav Thomas Turnverein Windhoek. In consequence of two world wars, the gym was built from 1909 to 1912 was seized and partially destroyed.

1945 was finally established on the site of the gymnastics club Fortuna 45 sports club. In subsequent years, the gymnastics club and Fortuna joined 45 under the name Sport Club Windhoek together.

Sports departments

Other sports besides the football department include archery, fistball, radio -controlled model car, soccer, bowling, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, table tennis, trampoline and volleyball.

Football

The professional football department of the SKW bears the name Cymot SKW. With the " NPL team " plays the SKW in the Namibia Premier League. The main sponsor is the company Cymot. The SKW plays in the SKW Stadium. The three-member team of trainers was conducted from 2002 to 2010 by Richard Strong. For the 2010/2011 season Lucky Kakuva took over as coach.

In the 2012/2013 season of SKW rose unexpectedly from Namibia to the First Division. However, the club sold the right to start and enters the 2013/2014 season in the third highest Namibian game class.

Girls Soccer

2011 founded the SKW "Girls League Soccer", a soccer league for girls 14 to 18 years. On the first season, their games take place every Friday, take part seven teams.

Others

The Sport Klub Windhoek is, among other organizer of the Windhoek Carnival, short WIKA and the Oktoberfest Windhoek.
