Å kabrnja

Škabrinja is a Croatian town in the hinterland of Zadar. It is situated in the region Ravni kotari.

Community Skabrnja

The community Skabrnja was founded in 1992. Previously, she was a part of the municipality of Zadar and only with the independence of Croatia independently. The municipality consists of the villages Skabrnja and Prkos, The first council meeting was held in the large council chamber of the city of Zadar on 13 April 1993.

History

In Skabrnja a Tonurne was found from the 8th century. This dates from the time when the Croats were not Christianized. These urns were grave side dish filled with food for the afterlife.

On 18 December 1991, the place of the Yugoslav People's Army ( JNA) and Serb irregulars was assaulted. It got to the so-called massacre of Skabrnja.

Coat Description: In blue a gold - silver winged bull lying nimbierter a golden open book guarding.

Symbolism: In the arms of the municipality Skabrnja a silver (white ), winged bull is ready to cut his head is a golden halo. The bull is keeping an open, golden book. This book is a symbol of the Evangelist Luke, the patron saint of the church.

The flag is solid red and the ratio of length to width is 2:1. In the center of the flag is the gold -bordered crest. The red color represents the victims and who died of Škabrnje.

Attractions
