Skáldatal

The Skáldatal is a Skaldenverzeichnis, located in a single manuscript ( DG 11) Snorra the Edda and in another the Heimskringla (AM 761, 4to ), and can be expected only in this sense to Snorra Edda.

The text consists of a list of bards, which is organized chronologically, and ranging from the entry of legendary poet personalities until around 1300. The enumerated Skalden are well known from other sources. Some of the mentioned Skalden seals remained preserved, particularly price songs she wrote for her prince. The list of Skáldatal is not complete since additional Skaldendichtungen are known, the authors are not mentioned in the Skáldatal.
