Skeeter Bonn

Skeeter Bonn ( born April 6, 1923 in Sugar, Illinois, † November 6, 1994, real name Junior Lewis Boughan ) was an American country musician. Bonn had the early 1950s regularly in four different Barn Dance shows.

Life

Childhood and youth

Skeeter Bonn was born in 1923 in Sugar, Illinois, but the parental farm left at age 13 and moved to Canton, Illinois. With 15 years of Bonn began to sing and play guitar. In 1942 he was appointed to the military service and served in the U.S. Navy, from which he returned in 1946. Early as 1945, Bonn had his wife Marie Louise married, with whom he had three sons.

Career

After the war, Bonn worked at the radio station WldS in Jacksonville, Illinois, and won the 1949 " Illinois Championship" as a singer. Quickly Bonn built a reputation as a talented and Jodeler as " Pickin 'and Singin' Boy".

1951 moved to Bonn station WHO in Des Moines, where he performed every Saturday night in the live show Iowa Barn Dance Frolic. To 1953, he joined the ensemble of the WWVA Jamboree, moved to the end of 1954, but once successful National Barn Dance, which, however, had lost at that time a large part of his past glory. At the same time he also worked at WLW in Cincinnati, Ohio and the Midwestern Hayride. To complete the public appearances, traveled Bonn and his band more than 100,000 miles in a year.

1954 Bonn also received a recording contract with RCA Victor, and the same year appeared his first single with Honey Baby / I've Been Down This Road Before. In 1955 he wrote the song Rock-a- Bye Baby, which took him for Sa - Ma Records in the same year for Sally Massey. Bonn's own version of the song was released in December 1955. A total of eight singles were released on RCA of Bonn.

Although Bonn was a talented musician who had a contract with a major label and was widely heard by his constant appearances on nationally broadcast country music shows, it is not the breakthrough. In 1957, he recorded a single for Admiral Records and 1967 for Sims Records.

Skeeter Bonn died in 1994.
