Ski marathon

As a cross-country race grassroots events in cross-country skiing refers - similar to the open races in the sport of running. Typically, the distance to be traveled distances of these contests are relatively large, which is why the term is used Ski Marathon. In many of these competitions, there are separate ratings for classical and free technique. Frequently, different distances are offered. Very famous people long runs are the König-Ludwig- run in Oberammergau, the Engadin Ski Marathon or the Vasaloppet in Sweden. Since 1978, some of the most important international cross-country ski runs under the name Worldloppet are grouped organisationally. Currently belong to 14 people long runs this series.
