Skids (band)

The Skids was a Scottish punk band from Dunfermline. The band, founded in 1977, which belonged to the first wave of punk, was the most important Scottish punk band this time, and was in 1979 also conquer the charts. The heads of the band were Stuart Adamson and Richard Jobson, who wrote much of the musical program. Richard Jobson it was he who was the only member through to the end. The Skids were suffering from the beginning with frequent member changes.

In total they spent with various singles for half a year in the UK Top 40, the single Into the Valley ( " Going into the Valley " is slang for Dunfermline " create it on a fight " ) came into the top 10 and led to a gig at Top of the Pops.

The band should accompany as the opening act Alice Cooper, but was discharged after two concerts again - allegedly because they were too strange in their appearance. Band member Stuart Adamson was later frontman of Big Country.

Prominent they were sampled in the 1990s by the Manic Street Preachers Motown Junk song. 2006 her title "The Saints Are Coming " by U2 and Green Day was covered in favor of the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Another cover of this song was created in 2008 by the group of Thronstahl.

Stuart Adamson committed suicide on December 16, 2001 in a hotel room in Honolulu suicide.
