Skijoring at the 1928 Winter Olympics

In the II Olympic Winter Games in 1928 in St. Moritz skijoring was discharged as a demonstration event. In the discharged horse racing from St. Moritz Racing Association skiers were pulled by galloping racehorses. The sport is very accident prone, so the athletes had to start proof of accident insurance. Participants and horses were strictly controlled.

The horse race was held over a distance of 1900 m on the frozen Lake St. Moritz. The eight participating athletes all came from Switzerland.
