Sklené (Žďár nad Sázavou District)

Sklené ( German Sklene, also Sklenny ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers north-east of Zdar nad Sázavou and belongs to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou.

Geography

Sklené is located in the south of Saarer mountains at the northern foot of the Skalice (781 m). West of the Moravian village of the country's historic boundary with Bohemia. To the northwest, the Český rises kopeček ( 764 m ) in the north Brožová skalka (786 m) and in the southeastern Sklenský vrch ( 779 m). By Sklené leads the main European watershed between the Elbe and Danube. North of the village of Sklenský spring creek and Lamperský creek and south of the Staviště, all the Sázava accrue. To the east lies the headwaters of the Medlovka, which opens into the Fryšávka.

Neighboring towns are Kocanda, Brušovec and Herálec in the north, Fryšava pod Žákovou horou in the northeast, Tři Studně in the east, U Fousků and Vlachovice the southeast, Jiříkovice and Lhotka in the south, Počítky and Výpustek the southwest, Čvrtě, Stržanov and Polnička in the west and Světnov and Cikháj in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Sklené place in the year 1407. The village's name derives from a glass factory located here. In addition, iron ore was mined in the area, which was in the blast furnace of Polnička rendered.

After the abolition of patrimonial Sklenné formed in 1850 a municipality in the administrative district of Nove Mesto. At the end of the 19th century, the place name Sklenný was used since 1921 is called the community Sklené. 1949 Sklené was assigned to the Okres Zdar nad Sázavou. Sklené is a spa and winter sports today. In Sklené the painter Václav Jícha (1884-1950) and the writer Vladimír Sacha lived ( 1903-1986 ).
