Skyfire (band)

Skyfire is a Swedish melodic death metal band.

Band History

Skyfire was founded in 1995 by school friends Andreas Edlund, Martin Hanner, Jonas Sjögren, and Tobias Björk in Höör. With Mattias Holmgren of Embracing the microphone demo Within Reach in 1997, taken with the band, but ultimately was not satisfied. For the second demo The Final Story Henrik Wenngren came as a singer to Skyfire.

After the release of The Final Story the Viking metal band Skyfire Thyrfing mediated a deal with Dutch label Hammerheart Records, and on 12 March 2001 the band released Timeless Departure, the first studio album by the band. It was followed by the mini-CD Haunted by Shadows on 7 April 2003.

Drummer Tobias Bjork was replaced by Joakim Johnsson Before the release of the album Mind Revolution on May 5, 2003. The so far last change in the occupation was followed a few months after the release of Spectral on 21 May 2004 got out as a bassist Jonas Sjögren and Johan Reinholdz it was taken.

Style

The music of Skyfire can be roughly classified as melodic death metal, but of many other styles (eg, Black Metal and Symphonic Metal ) influences. Characteristic are the distinctive keyboard melodies and reminiscent of black metal vocals of Henrik Wengren, so most likely a comparison with the music of Kalmah and Children Of Bodom is close.
