Slavenka Drakulić

Slavenka Drakulić ( * 1949, Rijeka ) is a Croatian writer and journalist.

Life

Slavenka Drakulić is one of the most famous writers of Croatia, her novels and non-fiction books have been translated into many languages ​​, eight of them so far into German.

She writes as a journalist for international newspapers and magazines, including the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Together with her ​​husband, the Swedish journalist and writer Richard Swartz, she owns a house in Istria and also lived for a time in Zagreb, Stockholm, Vienna and Berlin. She travels a lot.

In 2005 she was for her book No one was there - excellent war crimes in the Balkans in court with the Leipzig Book Prize for European Understanding.
