Slip forming

The slip-form (also Gleitbauverfahren or slipforming ) is a construction technique in concrete construction, in which co-migrates the formwork. It represents a possible alternative to the newer climbing construction

The sliding type is especially at high concrete structures ( towers, chimneys, tall buildings, for example ) applied. The formwork elements are not implemented, but the formwork ( slipform ) is shifted continuously in accordance with the progressive construction on the building and supported on the already concrete part, besides the concreting process is not interrupted. The entire formwork structure is pulled pneumatically or hydraulically to the so-called climbing poles. The concrete from binds during sliding, so that it has a sufficient strength at the lower end of the formwork in order to support this ability. The slip-form must therefore - in contrast to the climbing structure - run continuously in 24-hour shifts. The method is known in Germany since 1927. It is also used in the construction of concrete roads or concrete barriers.

In sliding type, for example, the TV towers in Hamburg and Stuttgart, the City Tower and the Winter Garden skyscraper in Leipzig and the Jentower in Jena were built.
