Sloughhouse AVA

Sloughhouse AVA ( recognized since July 17, 2006) is an American Viticultural Area in the U.S. state of California. The area covers the administrative area of Sacramento County. The protected designation of origin is a sub-zone in the northeastern part of the larger Lodi AVA. Within the region of Lodi the subzone Sloughhouse has the warmest climate, although the Sloughhouse AVA 180 m above sea level. NN (590 ft) is located higher than the other sub-zones. The relative height of the area is however only partly achieved by the cooling mists of the Pacific. Sloughhouse is therefore considered as a zone with a transitional climate between the very warm Central Valley and the nearby Sierra Foothills AVA.
