Slovak wine

Viticulture in Slovakia is operated mainly in the south on the border with Hungary and to the west along the border with the Czech Republic. The vineyards in Slovakia amounted to approximately 28,300 hectares in 2000.

Areas

There are the vineyards Malokarpatská vinohradnícka oblasť (north of Bratislava), Small Carpathians in the west of the country, Južnoslovenská vinohradnícka oblasť east of Bratislava, in the south of the country, Nitrianska vinohradnícka oblasť ( Neutra ) also in the south, Stredoslovenská vinohradnícka oblasť (central Slovakia), Východoslovenská vinohradnícka oblasť in the east around the city of Košice, and Tokajská vinohradnícka oblasť, the Tokaj wine region in the southeast.

Traditional terms according to Regulation ( EC) No 401/ 2010 Article 40

" Mladé víno ​​" is a Slovak garantierten origin. The wine must be bottled before the end of the calendar year in which the grapes used for wine were harvested. The marketing of the wine is allowed from the first Monday in November of the same vintage.

" Archívne víno ​​" is a Slovak garantierten origin. The wine is matured after harvesting the grapes used for at least three years.

" Panenská úroda " is a Slovak garantierten origin. The grapes used for production were from the first harvest of a vineyard. The first harvest is to be the third or later than the fourth year after planting.
