Slovenian Riviera

Slovenian Riviera is about 46 km long portion of Slovenia on the Adriatic coast. The term derives from the Italian Riviera or the French word riva or rive bank for now and originally referred to the French-Italian coast of the Ligurian Sea.

Location

The Slovenian Riviera is a stretch of coastline in the north of the Istrian peninsula. It extends from the Italian border in the north and in the south of Croatia and as such is part of the Istrian Riviera.

Description

Coined from the Venetian or Italian construction and lifestyle land consists largely of rocky coastline with several yacht and fishing ports. The towns along this coast often have picturesque old towns. The main cities are Koper (Italian: Koper ), Izola (Italian: Isola ), Piran (Italian: Piran ) and the seaside resort of Portorož (Italian: Porto Rose).
