SÅ‚upca

Słupca ( German Słupca, 1943-1945 Grenzhausen ( Wartheland ) ) is a city in the eastern part of Poland Greater Poland Voivodeship. Słupca is the capital of the powiat Słupecki. The city has 14,000 inhabitants. Słupca is a town and seat of an independent thereof rural community with about 9,000 residents.

History

The first mention of the town was in 1176. Town was chartered Słupca 1290th In 1331 it was destroyed by fire. By the Second Partition of Poland it came from 1793 to 1807 temporarily to Prussia. 1807-1815 Słupca was part of the Duchy of Warsaw, then part of Congress Poland. 1867 lost the place to be right city again, but it was 1932 again. During the German occupation in the Second World War, it was the German name Grenzhausen.
