Later, he met bassist Robert Shakespeare, which already had some studio experience, and brought with him and the revolution Aires several albums in Jamaica out (some of which were later released in the U.S. and Europe). Robert and Sly began calling themselves "The Riddim Twins" or " Sly & Robbie". Later she played in " Word Sound and Power", the band around Peter Tosh. They played a five albums and a number - one single, " ( Keep on walking ) Do not Look Back " with Mick Jagger. From the mid- 1970s were active Sly & Robbie as Dub Mixer, and later as a producer.

They parted by Peter Tosh and pushed the end of the 70's to Black Uhuru, in the now Ducky Simpson, Puma Jones and Michael Rose sang to the music of the duo. Black Uhuru brought out several albums, which sang on the last two ( " Brutal " and " Positive " ) Junior Reid instead of Michael Rose. The work of two later never limited, however, to only one band. So they took with Grace Jones on three albums; which joined a broad collaboration with musicians from around the world. These included Joe Cocker, Bob Dylan, Herbie Hancock, Bill Laswell and Carly Simon.

Already in the 1980s changed new music technologies and the work of Robert Shakespeare and Sly Dunbar. From the middle of the decade, they jointly published several albums in which dub elements with funk, hip-hop and other styles were linked. While Sly by The Summit 1988 almost exclusively devoted to drum machines and producing, Robert played alongside electric bass whatsoever keyboard more often. On a more successful single, the two produced in 1993 ( "Murder she Wrote" by Chaka Demus and Pliers ), followed by, among others, works for Beenie Man and Luciano and dancehall beats from Sly DJ combo. As a result, they recorded more albums than Sly & Robbie, most recently in 2004 version of Born.
