SM-EOD

SM- EOD is a system for selective and non-contact destruction of mines, unexploded ordnance and unconventional explosive or incendiary devices.

The name is composed of two parts., SM 'is the original marketer Swiss Munitionsunternehmung; , EOD 'refers to Explosive Ordnance Disposal, the internationally used term for explosive ordnance disposal

SM EOD systems constitute a family of non-magnetic hollow charges consisting of a choice of five different sizes. The different sizes include SM- EOD 20, SM- EOD 33, SM- EOD 33 P, SM- EOD 67, SM- EOD 130 and SM- 190 The EOD Explosive be placed on a rack and aligned on the target. They can be ignited electrically or pyrotechnic. Waterproof, the devices can be used up to a depth of 80 m. All systems are qualified in coordination with the MIL and NATO standards.

History

The Swiss ammunition company ( SM) marketed the systems for the first time. The pre-1995 existing Swiss munitions factory of Thun (MFT ) has initiated this development. From 2001 the systems were driven by RUAG ammunition, which as RUAG Warhead Division was operated under RUAG Land Systems later. 2007 assets from the RUAG Warhead Division Saab Bofors Dynamics by ( SBDS ) were taken. The systems were up in summer 2012 in Thun developed, produced and distributed worldwide.
