Smíchov – Hostivice railway line

The railway line Praha- Smíchov Hostivice is a major railway in the Czech Republic, which was originally built and operated by the Buštěhrad railway company. It runs from Praha- Smíchov Hostivice, where it binds to the nádrazí directly from Prague Masaryk upcoming main track to Chomutov ( Chomutov ) a.

The section to Praha- Jinonice is known for its sinuous, extending over several large viaducts routing as Prague Semmering ( Semmering tschech. Pražský ). This name was given after the Semmering Railway in Austria.

History

The track was built in the years 1868-1872 through the Buštěhrad Railway. On 3 July 1872, the line was opened for goods traffic. As of September 16, 1872 perverted passenger trains. Haupttransportgut were initially mainly coal from the mining area to Kladno and wood.

The track is now daily ( powered by railcar ) units in passenger two or three passenger trains per direction traveled. They operate on the route Prague- Smíchov Hostivice or - Rudná near Prague, the only passenger train stop between Praha and Praha -Smíchov Jinonice is Praha- Zvahov. Between Praha- Zličin and Hostivice run more trains. By December 2007, some R and Sp- trains ran to Kladno and Chomutov of the journey.

A special feature is that the trains in Praha -Smíchov not go into the actual station, but to the northern platform (Praha -Smíchov severní nástupiště ). This platform is officially only be reached via a private remote access east of the station, unofficially a transition over the tracks of the train station Smíchov and a goods shed is being used.

Route description

The nine- kilometer Prague Semmering in the strict sense overcomes many curves in a height difference of 90 meters, its continuation after Rudná near Prague 190 meters.
