SMS Niobe (1849)

The S.M.S. Niobe was a built in England wooden sailing frigate.

Up for sale, for 180.2 Prussian Thaler, to the Prussian Navy in 1861, she served as HMS Niobe in the Royal Navy. On October 21, 1861 was put into service under Prussian flag as a training ship for naval cadets. In this role, she was used to decommissioning on 18 November 1890. It was then used as the Hulk and 1908 scrapped. The figurehead is now in the Naval Academy Mürwik.
