Smyrna meatballs

Soutzoukakia (Greek σουτζουκάκια, small Soutzouki ', from Turkish Sucuk ) are Greek ground beef sausages mainly of pork, but recently sometimes also mixed of veal, beef, lamb or poultry. The spiced mince is formed into sausages, mehliert and initially browned in a pan with olive oil and then cooked in a spicy tomato sauce flavored with fresh, finely diced tomatoes over. The Greek spice mix Bachari ( μπαχάρι ) based on pepper, cumin, nutmeg, cinnamon and clove, dominates the taste.

Originally a court of the Greeks of Asia Minor, today countless variations of Soutzoukakia throughout Greece are known. Traditionally, two preparation methods are distinguished: smyrneika ( σμυρνέικα, from Smyrna ) and politika ( πολίτικα, from Constantinople Opel ).
