SNCB Class 51

The 200 series ( from 1971 row 51 ) of the Belgian State Railways ( NMBS / SNCB) is a series of six-axle diesel-electric mainline diesel locomotives. She was next to the number 205, the second Dieselloktyp of NMBS / SNCB.

Development

The 200 series was based on the number 201 and how these should be used primarily on the flat stretches of land in Flanders. It was constructed from 1961 by Cockerill and ACEC. The first order of 53 locomotives still followed during their second delivery of 40 copies with slight modifications. With an output of 1450 kW (2000 hp), they were the strongest series locomotives of Belgium. Their use was made both before freight and passenger trains, including the TEA in the direction of the Netherlands.

The total of 93 locomotives were mainly located in Charleroi, Liege, Antwerp and Brussels. In the 1990s, their use is gradually shifted to freight transport, especially on routes to Antwerp harbor. With the delivery of the number 77 at the beginning of the 2000s the phasing out of the series 200 began the last copies perverted in August 2003.

Eleven locomotives were sold in the years 2007 to 2009, after Italy. Two more were sold to Seco - Rail. Five locomotives were as historic vehicles at clubs, another was preserved as a museum vehicle at the NMBS / SNCB.

200 101 / 5001
