Sønderhald Municipality

Sønderhald Commune was until December 2006 a Danish municipality on the peninsula Djursland, in East Jutland in the former Aarhus office.

Sønderhald municipality was created in the course of administrative reform of 1970 and included the following Sogn:

  • Fausing Sogn Sogn and Auning (Town Fausing - Auning )
  • Øster Alling Sogn Sogn and Vester Alling (Town Øster Alling - Vester Alling )
  • Virring Sogn Sogn and Essenbæk (Town Virring - Essenbæk )
  • Årslev Sogn Sogn and Horning (Town Nørre Årslev - Hørningstenen )

On 1 January 2007, the municipality was dissolved. The western part ( Essenbæk, Horning, Virring and Årslev Sogn ) was added to the greater community of Randers, while the eastern part ( Auning, Fausing, Vester Alling and Øster Alling Sogn ) with the Grenaa Commune, Nørre Djurs municipality and the Rougsø municipality to Norddjurs municipality was merged.
