Snooky Pryor

James Edward " Snooky " Pryor ( born September 15, 1921 in Lambert, Mississippi, † October 18, 2006 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri) was an influential African-American blues singer and harmonica player.

Pryor was - next to Little Walter - one of the pioneers of the ' fat ', reinforced play the ' Blues Harp '. While he served in the Army, he played first on a military trumpet signals through an amplifier system, which brought him out, try the same with his harmonica. After discharge from the Army, he received his own amp and started to play in Chicago on Maxwell Street, but also in clubs and took until the late 1950s, a series of shellac records on various record labels, so also for the label JOB.

Nine Below Zero, Judgement Day, Crazy ' Bout My Baby, How'd You Learn to Shake It Like That and Shake My Hand are his best-known songs.

Snooky Pryor died on 18 October 2006 at a hospital in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, at the age of 85 years.
