Snowplow Game

The Snowplow Game (English for snow plow game ) was a football game in the National Football League between the Miami Dolphins and the New England Patriots. It took place on 12 December 1982 at Schaefer Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts instead. The Patriots were able to win 3-0.

The game was played during a customary for the New England states great blizzard and the whole field was covered with snow. The game remained without points until the last quarter. With only 4 minutes and 45 seconds of game time, the then head coach of the Patriots, Ron Meyer, Mark Henderson sent with his snow plow on the pitch to the kicker John Smith liberate a small square from the snow to allow a field goal, which Smith then also scored. This led the Patriots to three points a victory. The following year, the NFL banned the use of snow plows.
