Sobědruhy

Sobědruhy ( German: Soborten ) is a district of Teplice in the Czech Republic.

Geographical Location

Soborten lies at the foot of the Ore Mountains, below the 806 m high Komáří hůrka ( Mückenberg ) at the Old Dresden- Teplitz Post Road.

History

The Jewish community of the town Soborten was probably one of the oldest in Bohemia. It included parts of the districts of Teplice, Dux and Karbitz. The synagogue located in the village has an essay, 1553 and 1654 bears the two dates. The still existing Jewish cemetery was used temporarily for the burial of Jews from Dresden. In 1991, the city had 1010 inhabitants. In 2001 Sobědruhy consisted of 327 houses, where 1031 people lived.
