Sobhan Babu

Shobhan Babu (real name: Uppu Sobhanachalapathi Rao, Telugu: శోభన్ బాబు; born January 14, 1937 in Tallidevarapalli in the district of Krishna, Andhra Pradesh, † 20 March, 2008 Chennai, Tamil Nadu ) was an Indian actor of the Telugu film. He played in more than 200 films.

Shobhan Babu studied natural science and law. He had 1960 in Bhakta Shabari by Ch Narayanamurthy his film debut. He first played in mythological movies: NT Rama Rao Lakshmana in Seeta Rama Kalyanam (1961 ), Abhimanyu in Nartansala (1963 ) by K. Kameshwara Rao and Veer Abhimanyu (1965 ), his first solo hit. In the mid- 1960s he took over more and more roles in action films, such as in Googachari 116 (1966 ) with G. Krishna as its main rival. He had great success with Manasulu Marali (1969). Although he mainly occurred in macho roles, returned with Bapu's Sampoorna Ramayanam (1971 ) still einmals into the genre of the mythological film back.

With the actress Sharada he was 15 years a movie couple in romantic dramas. Important roles played Shobhan Babu in Nindu Hridayalu (1969) and Sharada (1973 ) (both of K. Vishwanath ) and as an aristocrat in Balaram Krishnudu (1992). In 1997 he retired from the film business and then lived in Chennai. He died of a heart attack.

Shobhan Babu has received numerous awards, including four Filmfare Awards South, five Nandi Awards and eight Andhra Pradesh Cine Goers Awards (including 1970 to 1975 six times in a row).
