Society of American Registered Architects

The Society of American Registered Architects ( SARA ) is a professional organization for architects in the United States. The association, based in New York City was founded on November 9, 1956 by Wilfred J. Gregson.

The association gives regularly internationally recognized honors and awards, and maintains national and regional organizations in several U.S. states.

The membership of the association pursues mutual support within the profession in the first place. Membership is open to all architects, regardless of the public importance of the individual. Architects of the American continent are listed as so-called "Professional Members", other architects as " International Members". Candidates for entry to the profession as an architect fall into the category of membership of the " Associate Members". There is also the membership for individuals, associations and companies in the construction industry as a so-called "affiliate members ". In contrast to the American Institute of Architects ( AIA ) in the management SARA also the possibility of membership at the national level for architecture students as so-called "Student Members".
