Society of Mary

The Marist Brothers are a group of religious orders in the Catholic Church, which are closely related to each other in their orientation and their history. They include the Marist Brothers (FMS ), the Marist Sisters (SM ), the Marist Fathers (SM) and the Maristenmissionsschwestern ( SMSM ), as well as the lay Marist.

Founder of the Marist Fathers, Jean- Claude Colin. He founded in 1816 together with Jeanne -Marie Chavoin the Sisters of the Most Holy Name of Mary, or Marist Sisters. Founder of the Marist Brothers Marcellin Champagnat was 1817.
