Society of Saint Edmund

The Society of Edmunditen (Latin: Societas Sancti Patrum Edmundi, Order code: SSE) is a Roman Catholic society of apostolic life of men.

The Edmunditen was founded in 1852 by the French Benedictine Jean -Baptiste Muard in Pontigny in the Yonne department. It is named after the Catholic theologian, philosopher and saint Edmund Rich of Abingdon, Archbishop of Canterbury.

1889 fled many of the friars because of the anticlerical development in France, first settled in the French-speaking Quebec and later in the then French-speaking part in the northern Vermont, Winooski Park. There they built 1904 Saint Michael 's College in Colchester.

The company has offices in the United States, France and Venezuela. Superior General is Michael Cronogue SSE.
