The base 4 was the first socket for Intel Pentium processor series. He could be equipped with a 60 - MHz or 66- MHz Pentium processor. In January 1995, Intel also presented an upgrade CPU called Pentium OverDrive PODP5V133 that could be operated with both 120 MHz and 133 MHz. At this time the base 4 was already by his successor, the socket replaced 5, which had been introduced at the launch of the second generation of Intel Pentium - internal name P54C.
