Sodium tetrafluoroborate is a chemical compound selected from the group consisting of sodium compounds, boron halide compounds and fluoride complexes.

Production and representation

Like most of the usual tetrafluoborates sodium tetrafluoroborate can be reacted with the reaction or by Tetrafluoridoborsäure or neutralization of sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate.

Properties

Sodium tetrafluoroborate is a non-flammable white crystalline solid, which is very easily soluble in water and it slowly decomposes.

Use

Sodium tetrafluoroborate is also called as protection during sand mold casting of magnesium alloys. However, more commonly, the use of boric acid as an additive for molding sand mixture.

Alkalimetallfluoroborate generally be used in fluxes for soldering and brazing and used as catalysts in organic synthesis and polymerization reactions. In aluminum foundries are the fluoroborates, as well as the fluorotitanates added to the melt as a component of products for the grain -refining microstructure influence (see melt treatment).
