Sofa Surfers

Sofa Surfers is an Austrian band, consisting of Wolfgang Frisch, Markus Kienzl, Michael Wood Gruber and Wolfgang Schlögl, all from Vienna, and singer Mani Obeya. The musical style of the group should be categorized only with difficulty. The first success came along with the also originating from Vienna, Richard Dorfmeister, who published the track bed Rockers from the album Transit for Kruder & Dorfmeister on the album The K & D Sessions.

In the European dub and techno scene in 1997 released album Transit made ​​with the two singles The Plan and Sofa Rockers already a sensation, but it was the subsequent tour garnered enthusiasm. The second album Cargo is characterized by minimalism and many breakbeat elements. The following plates are rather classified in the category downbeat and trip-hop. In 2005, another CD of the Sofa Surfers, which differed fundamentally from the previous appeared. For the first time could be heard a guitarist and a drummer, and singer Mani Obeya.

Sofa Rockers was chosen by the company Apple as background to the welcome video in Mac OS X 10.0, Mac OS X 10.1 and Mac OS X 10.2. These videos are played once after a successful installation.

For all the films of the Wolf Haas mysteries around the fictional private detective Simon Brenner - Come, Sweet Death (2000), Silence (2004) and The Bone Man (2009) - contributed Sofa Surfers in soundtracks. Also the film Anatomy (2000 ) with Franka Potente, contains a song of Sofa Surfers.

2012 appeared the album superluminal, with the Sofa Surfers at the Amadeus Austrian Music Awards 2013, category " Alternative " won.
