Soferim (Talmud)

Masekhet Soferim " Treatise of the scribes " (also Hilkhot Soferim or Baraita de - Soferim ) is a so-called außerkanonischer tractate of the Babylonian Talmud, and is usually printed in its annex behind the order Nesikin.

It deals with the rules when writing a Torah scroll and the Bible reading.

The treatise comes about from the second half of the 8th century and survives in two versions: one in Palestine (the usual version) and a Babylonian version (the latter not fully preserved).

In some points Soferim contradicts the Talmudic Halacha and has prevailed in it.
