Solbergfoss Line

The railway line Askim - Solbergfoss (Norwegian: Solbergfossbanen ) was a 7.9 km long branch line from the Indre Østfold in Norway in Østfoldbanen. It led from Askim to the power plant Solbergfoss.

History

The line was built by the city of Christiania and completed in 1917. It was built to transport construction material for the construction of the power plant Solbergfoss, which was built from 1913 to 1924. The line was used for freight transport in the construction period and thereafter until 1937. The passenger was taken on their own in 1920 and maintained until the cessation of route 1964. From 1928 drove rail buses.

Today's use

The embankment has been cleared and is for the most part now a walking and bike path. The turntable in Askim is still partly preserved. Two rail cars with the name Gamla and Padda are managed by Norsk Jernbaneklubb.
