The Solvay Hut is a mountain hut on the Matterhorn near Zermatt in the Valais Alps. It lies at the most frequented ascent route, the Hörnligrat, the northeast ridge of the Matterhorn. It is intended only as an emergency shelter. The cottage built in 1915 is situated on 4003 m and is operated by the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC ). It has 10 beds and is equipped with a radio telephone. Your name carries the hut after the founder Ernest Solvay, a Belgian chemist and industrialist.
