Sompo Japan

K. K. Songai Hoken Japan (Japanese株式会社 損害 保険 ジャパン, Eng. Sompo Japan Insurance, Inc.), Sompo Japan shortly (損保 ジャパン), is a Japanese company with headquarters in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Sompo Japan Insurance offers various types for its customers worldwide. The company was founded in 1887 as Tōkyō Kasai Hoken (English Tokyo Fire Insurance ). 1893, the insurance of Zenjiro Yasuda was acquired and integrated into the Zaibatsu Yasuda. July 2002 merged the Japanese insurance company Yasuda Kasai Kaijo Hoken ( Yasuda Fire) and Nissan Shōgai Hoken (Nissan Fire & Marine Insurance ) for Sompo Japan Insurance Group.

Sompo Japan Museum of Art

The insurance company has acquired various art world in recent decades. These works of art are currently in Sompo Japan Museum of Art in Tokyo. Among other things, the Painting Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh in 1987 was bought by the company at Christie's.
