Sơn Đoòng Cave

The Sơn - Đoòng Cave ( " mountain river cave ") is a cave in Phong Nha National Park - Ke Bang in Vietnam, 50 km north of the provincial capital Dong Hoi and 450 km south of Hanoi. It was discovered in 1991 by a local and published by a British group of cavers.

In April 2009, British researchers found in this national park twenty new caves with a total length of 56 kilometers, including the largest according to information in the world: the Sơn - Đoòng Cave with more than 250 meters above sea level is larger than the Deer Cave in Malaysia ( in Gunung Mulu National Park ).
