Sonatine (Ravel)

The Sonatine pour piano is a three-movement piano work which Maurice Ravel in 1903 (first set ) and 1905 ( second and third sentences ), or about the same time as the piano cycle Miroirs composed.

The form of the work with a largely lyrical tuned sonata at the beginning, a minuet in second place and a fast finale corresponds to the model of the classic Sonatina; but does the piece because of its pianistic invoice and especially its typical Ravel and the so-called musical impressionism style harmonies no copy is, but fits seamlessly in Ravel's piano works between Jeux d'eau and the Miroirs.

The three movements of the Sonatina carry the following tempo markings:

  • Modéré ( 1st set )
  • Mouvt de Menuet (2nd set)
  • Animé ( 3rd movement )
