Soner Yalçın

Soner Yalçın ( born January 1, 1966 in Çorum, Turkey) is a Turkish journalist and writer.

Journalistic work

His journalistic career began in the newspaper Aydınlık. He then worked for the newspaper Siyah Beyaz and for the television channels Show TV and Star TV. For a time he worked for the newspaper Sabah. In 2009 he wrote a Sunday column for the daily newspaper Hürriyet and also worked for CNN Turk. He also works as a consultant for various national and international television series.

In 2007 he founded with Cuneyt Ozdemir, the online news portal OdaTV.com, which is considered to be " critical of the government " and " nationalist ". OdaTV Soner Yalçın chief editor is called by the newspaper Junge Welt as formerly linker today " anti-Semitic conspiracy theories and appends published racist articles against Kurds and Armenians ."

Ergenekon investigation

In the course of investigations into the Ergenekon organization Soner Yalçın was arrested on February 14, 2011. His house and his business premises were searched and seized material. The American ambassador to Turkey Ricciardone has a question on the arrest Yalçıns answered with a meal like this: On the one hand, journalists are arrested and on the other it is called freedom of the press.
