Sonya Levien

Sonya Levien, born Sara Opeskin (born 13 Dezemberjul / December 25 1895greg in Moscow, .. † March 19, 1960 in Los Angeles ) was an American screenwriter of Russian origin.

Life

When Sara Opeskin born she came as an infant in the United States. There, her parents took the last name Levien and renamed them in Sonya. She studied law and worked as a lawyer. In 1917 she married Carl Hovey. But soon she turned to journalism and has also written stage plays. From the 20s, she was also active as a screenwriter. They made films of very different genres. She was known mainly as a co -author of the classic "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Quo Vadis ." The Oscar for best original screenplay she received in 1956 for " Interrupted Melody".
