Söråker

Söråker is a place ( tätort ) in the Swedish province Västernorrlands County, in the historical county Medelpad.

Location and economic

Söråker belongs to the municipality Timrå. The village is located about 25 km as the crow southwest of the provincial capital Härnösand and, together with the nearby community center a few kilometers west Timrå to agglomerate around the city Sundsvall. These places extend around the inner part of the Sundsvallbucht Gulf of Bothnia of the Baltic Sea. Söråker is located on the northeastern shore of Klingerfjärden said part of the bay north of the island Alnön, empties into the immediate west of the town of Indalsälven with a delta. Söråker is the second largest town on the Gemeinda after the administrative center Timrå.

Locally, the European route leads past 4. It lies on the railway line Sundsvall - Långsele ( Ådalsbanan ), which was opened on the section to Härnösand 1925 as part of the then private East Coast Railway ( Ostkustbanan ). Currently, the line is being expanded as a southern extension of the Botniabanan for high -speed traffic with partly new route, so the maintenance is eliminated in Söråker; the nearest railway station will then be the Midlanda Resecentrum at Sundsvall- Harnosand Airport ( Midlanda ), which is located in the delta of Indalsälven between Söråker and Timrå.

Söråker has a seaport and several business parks.

Culture and Sport

Söråkers Folkets Hus is the cultural center of the village. In Söråker the Sports Club Söråkers IF, especially for its Bandymannschaft known, and in 2001 separated from this football club Söråkers FF is established.
