Sorans -lès -Breurey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Sorans -lès -Breurey situated at an altitude of 250 m above sea level, 3 km southwest of Rioz and about 18 km north of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the south of the department, to the north of the river valley Ognon, in an open valley of the brook Buthiers, on the eastern edge of the Forêt de Sorans.

The area of ​​14.37 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of Ognon in the south and Saône in the northwest. The central part of the area is traversed in a north-south direction from the Buthiers that provides drainage for Ognon. The Talniederung is relatively narrow, but opens in the range of Sorans to a wide opening, which is filled by alluvial soils. It is used primarily for agricultural purposes.

The valley of Buthiers is flanked on the west by elongated ridge of the Forêt de Sorans, with 363 m the highest elevation of Sorans -lès -Breurey is achieved on the. History

In the Middle Ages Sorans belonged to the Free County of Burgundy and in the territory of the Bailliage d' amont. The rule Sorans is first mentioned in 1226.
