Sorbaria kirilowii

The plant genus Fiederspieren ( Sorbaria ) belongs to the subfamily of Spiraeoideae in the rose family ( Rosaceae ).

Description

Sorbaria species are deciduous, usually tall shrubs with terete branches. The bald or hairy bark of the branches is so long they are young yellow gis green, later it is dark reddish or yellowish brown. The arranged alternate, large, odd pinnate leaves contain seven to 33 leaflets. The most doubly serrate leaflets are up to 13 cm long. Stipules are present.

In 10 to 30 cm long, terminal, paniculate inflorescences many flowers are borne. The relatively small, five petals have a diameter 5-10 mm. The five sepals are also still present in the fruits. The five rounded white petals are fused at the base. The 20 to 50 stamens are often longer than the petals. The five carpels are fused only at the base and are in an open flower cups.

The 2.5 to 5 mm long, bald or hairy follicles are still pen and cup available when they are ripe.

Occurrence

Sorbaria species occur in Central and East Asia, as well as in eastern North America.

The decorative, rich flowering shrubs can be found as a solitary and group shrubs in parks and gardens of the temperate zone use.
