Sorbus multicrenata

The Vielkerbige Whitebeam (Sorbus multicrenata ), also referred to as Vielkerbige Bastard - haw, is a plant - type, (Sorbus latifolia agg. ) Belongs to the complex of the bastard - haws. They are deciduous trees, which are originated from a hybridization of the ordinary Whitebeam (Sorbus aria) with the wild service tree (Sorbus torminalis ). She is an apomictic nature, that is, it is propagated asexually.

Description

The Vielkerbige Whitebeam is reached a deciduous or laufabwerfender tree, the plant height of 10 meters. The alternate, elliptical, lobed and evenly serrate leaves are 8-9 cm long and 7.5 to 8 centimeters wide. The lower leaf surface has a gelbfilzige surface.

The hermaphrodite, radial symmetry flowers are white and are pollinated by insects. The flowering period extends from May to June. The egg-shaped, apple -like fruits are brown and orange edible.

Dissemination

The Vielkerbige Whitebeam is endemic in the state of Thuringia. It grows exclusively on limestone soils on the southern slope of the Griffin Mountain in the vicinity of Bad Blankenburg within a 100 km ² area. It applies because of their limited distribution area in the IUCN as the world's endangered species
