Sorel, Somme

Sorel ( Picard: Soerel ) is a commune with 172 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton Roisel and is part of the Communauté de communes du canton de Roisel.

Geography

The community is located between Fins and Heudicourt at the department D222 road and south of the department of road D58, which belongs to the system of the Chaussée Brune skin.

History

The Sohier of Vermand built in the municipality of a fortress, which is mentioned in documents in 1214, and around which a settlement developed. The religious hospital was built here in 1550 to ruin. 1748 the rule was applicable to the county. The church, which was destroyed in the First World War and led the reconstruction of the architect Louis Faille, received the Croix de guerre award as 1914-1918.
