Soriso

Soriso ( Soris Piedmontese, Lombard Suri ) is a municipality with 792 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Novara (NO ), Region Piedmont.

Geography

The place is 40 km from Novara at an altitude of 452 m asl. The municipality covers an area of 6.29 km ². The neighboring municipalities are Gargallo, Gozzano, Pogno and Valduggia. The patron saint of the place is San Giacomo.

History

The name of the village is of Roman origin and points to the pre-Roman settlement of the area by the Usier out. Together with the word for hill Or the name Soriso results as the hills Usier.
