The Sormitz in the city park Wurzbach

The Sormitz is a 29.2 km long tributary of the Loquitz in Thuringia.

It begins at the confluence of long water and Oßlabach in the park of Wurzbach. Shortly thereafter, the B 90 and the railway line Hockeroda - Unterlemnitz from Saalfeld to Bad Lobenstein reach the valley. They accompany the Sormitz to its mouth. On both sides of the river disused slate quarries are still visible. After about 16 km you will reach the people Sormitz mountain, where the valley widens slightly. Four kilometers down from the mountain people it opens in Hockeroda from the right in the Loquitz, a tributary of the Saale.
