Sosei

Sosei (Japanese素性, also素性 法师, Sosei Hōshi, dt " Monk Sosei "; * before 850 ( traditional: Kasho 3); † traditionally by 909 (: Engi 9) ) was a waka poet and Buddhist monk. He is one of the 36 immortals of poetry. One of his waka is included in the important Japanese poetry anthology Hyakunin Isshu. His father was also a Henjo waka poet and monk.

Soseis secular name is disputed. As a possible name Yoshimine no Harutoshi (良 岑玄利) is specified.
