Sosialurin

The Sosialurin [ sosjalʊrɪn ] (literally " The Social ") is the second largest daily newspaper in the Faroe Islands, based in Tórshavn.

Sosialurin published five times a week from Tuesday to Saturday with a nationwide circulation of 8,100 copies. He reached almost half of the approximately 17,000 Faroese households. Together with the Føroya Tele, the Faroese Telecom, it provides for the supply of messages on the main portal of the country portal.fo.

The actual site of the newspaper is www.sosialurin.fo. It is fully visible only for subscribers. This it has in common with the competitor and market leader Dimmalætting. As " Dimma " announced in April 2005, to distribute its printed edition Tuesday in the Faroe Islands in the future for free, Sosialurin drew not.

The first edition appeared on 24 May 1927, entitled Føroya Social Democrat ( " Social Democrat of the Faroe Islands " ) as a party newspaper Javnaðarflokkurin (est. 1925). From 1945 to 1955, the name was Føroya Sosial - democratorship. The foreign word " social" ( Danish spelling) enrolls sosial in Faroese and was named for today's title Sosialurin.

The name of the Lehnworts is made up as follows: Sosial -ur- in. Sosial is the ( foreign language ) strain -ur masculine nominative and in the attached definite article. If the name is bent, so it appears in the accusative as Sosial -in and in the dative as Sosial - inum.

This name was chosen in April 2005 in Norway as the funniest company in the world. There he is misunderstood as " social urine ". The emphasis of the name includes this explanation from but since the ending- urine- is unstressed, and no voting paragraph to the previous syllable is done, see German: more social. Urine is called in Faroese paraphrasing vatn ( water) or country (country ).

In early 2006, separated the Javnaðarflokkurin from his home page. The newspaper is now owned by the Faroese telephone company Føroya Tele.
