Sotobanari

Sotobanari (Japanese外 离岛, Sotobanari -jima, dt "external, remote island " ) is one of the islands in the Yaeyama Islands, which belong to the group of islands Sakishima. The tropical island is located in the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa in southwestern Japan in the East China Sea.

Administratively, the island belongs to the district of the municipality of Taketomi Iriomote.

Geography

Sotobanari is a minor island 1700 meters west of the island of Iriomote and nearly 500 northwest of the island Uchibanari other side ( "internal, remote island "). The island is 1700 meters long and up to 930 meters wide and has an area of 1.32 km ².

Resident

On the island lives a single pensioner, the Japanese Masafumi Nagasaki. However, the island officially deemed to be uninhabited.
